DID wins at POPAI 2016

We were thrilled to take out bronze in this Years POPAI awards in the consumer electronics, temporary displays category for “Oppo lightbox” display!

The 2016 award reaffirms Double Impact Displays industry leading design, manufacture, installation and compliance credentials in an ever increasing competitive retail environment.

For those unaware – POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) is an international authority on the Retail industry, specifically the Point of Sale ‘marketing at retail’ side.

This year the physical entries were set up at an exhibition at the Sydney Olympic Park (showgrounds) and open to the public. The Physical entries were co-located with Visual Impact – a print industry trade show featuring all the large print stock suppliers, latest print machinery and cutting edge printing technology is showcased all under the one roof.

The inherently competitive ‘consumer electronics’ category, DID was challenged to create the first ever display for OPPO in JB Hi-Fi. We needed to give overnight presence to the brand, within 2 months of its transition out of the failed retailer Dick Smith.

Judges confirmed the display excelled in representing OPPO mobile phones as a distinct, high value and premium alternative to other market leading brands (holding significant market and retailer share)

Joining us at our table (from left to right in the photo) was our super sales coordinator Les, in brilliant blue were VM coordinators both Nat and Bec, the ever glamorous Jen was joined by myself and our lovely guests Rani and Jake, finally our dashing Greg to the right, ensured everyone’s glasses were refreshed all night.

This year our entry’s in our ‘bread and butter’ window display categories (Halo 5 Guardians and Fallout 4) were beaten by some very clever, but also very high budget one-off Live-Event style Windows. The winning entries were great events in there own right – with crowd participation, LED screen interaction, and even Christmas present giveaways! These one-off windows are a tough act to compete against with our  low budget mass -installed national ROI driven windows.

Our other 3 entry’s didn’t take out an award this year, but all received very positive feedback for their unique design. Our entry’s can continue to be viewed right here in our warehouse showroom. If your are ever around, pop by for a coffee come check them out!
